Individual contributions have always been a key tool to helping organizations like California Partnership have more ownership of our work without prioritizing the needs of foundations. Now more than ever we see the social climate impacting the lives of the already systematically oppressed communities. Many undocumented people are afraid to get driver’s licenses, fearing that their information will be used to deport them. Immigrants, regardless of their status, are afraid to access programs and services, for which they are qualified because of the fear of being labeled a public charge. Many do not know how accessing programs may affect their naturalization process. This Vibrant Communities event seeks to grow CAP’s programming with more cultural and artistic components in our advocacy. California Partnership’s (CAP) goal, as a statewide economic justice organization, is to sustain the safety net and ensure low income folks and communities of color have access to adequate health and human service resources. We are trying to realise F.D.R.s’ Four Freedoms for all Americans (Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear). CAP is made up of community folks, grassroots organizations, policy advocates, statewide organizations, service providers, and labor unions who come together to solve issues impacting our communities.
Your contribution to the Vibrant Communities project will help California Partnership build stronger and more effective relationships among our partners and elected officials. By staying culturally competent, we have been able to work with communities struggling to come out of the shadows and to come forward to seek help. By no means has the work been easy, it has stretched both the capacity of our staff and budget. CAP’s key partnerships are vital to helping our community impact the policies affecting them. In grassroots organizing or complex issues based campaigns, CAP recognises how essential the arts are in communicating. Today we ask for help in expanding programming and messaging to engage our communities to come and advocate with us. Vibrant communities is a fundraiser that will benefit advocacy with and within the arts. We seek to tell the story of our past, present and future work while also highlighting the faces and places that our essential in our work. By donating, you are helping us create new and unique experiences in the work of advocacy.
